SLE Specialism: SEND, Curriculum, Behaviour.

I have being involved with the implementation, development and embedding of a bespoke curriculum, Elements, across key stage 3 at the Special School I am currently based at as Vice Principal. The pedagogic approaches and content have been shared with several SEMH special and PRU schools and a case study has been made for the teachers’ union, ATL.

I have also had the opportunity to deliver the following training to colleagues and a variety of schools on:

  • Differentiation and personalisation for pupils with SEMH, SEND
  • Growth Mindset
  • Nurture Principles and Practice – a whole school approach
  • Immersive Learning across the key stages
  • Mantle of the Expert
  • Lesson Study
  • Drama for Learning strategies across the curriculum
  • Forum theatre across the curriculum

As joint Research and Development lead I have supported colleagues on their R&D projects around difficulties with writing, leading to tangible outcomes and shifts in practice across several schools. My experience of collaborative enquiry and research have enabled me to guide colleagues with this process. As a Specialist Leader of Education with BTSA I have also delivered School Direct twilights focusing on Inclusion and Supporting Learners with SEN.
