Newly Qualified Teacher Programme (NQT) 2017/2018

A comprehensive, cross phase, support and development initiative for NQTs.

Barnsley Teaching School Alliance is devoted to working closely with school leaders and mentors to offer dedicated support for Newly Qualified Teachers within Barnsley and beyond, during their vital first year.

Appropriate Body Registration:

It is a legislative requirement of the National College of Teaching and Learning that an NQT must be registered with an appropriate body. As lead school of Barnsley TSA, Worsbrough Common Primary School is a designated Appropriate Body for NQT validation. Registration pricing packages:

PACKAGE 1: – £100 per NQT, per term (1-3 NQTs)

PACKAGE 2: – £950 per year (4-6 NQTs)

PACKAGE 3: – £1500 per year (7-12 NQTs)

 

As an Appropriate Body we offer:

  • Registration of the NQT with NCTL
  • Collection and monitoring of termly assessment reports
  • Named contact to give advice and support for vunerable NQTs
  • Telephone and email support for all parties involved in the NQT year
  • Consultancy and expert guidance/ support on the induction framework
  • Quality Assurance visits to ensure schools are meeting the needs of the NQTs
  • Drawing on the recommendations of Headteacher/ Principals to make the final decisions as to whether or not the NQT’s performance against the teacher’s standards is satisfactory.
  • Clarity of roles and responsibilities during the induction period.

 

What does the NQT Programme look like?

Our cross-phase NQT programme has been running successfully for the last year within Barnsley. The programme has been designed to consolidate teaching pedagogy, develop reflection and improve teacher practice. This outstanding CPD breaks down all aspects for an effective classroom practitioner in order to develop understanding and move teaching to a high level.

Our bespoke, innovative CPD programme is delivered by renowned Education Consultant/ Author, Hywel Roberts, Barnsley TSA designated Specialist Leaders of Education and Outstanding Leaders and Practitioners working on behalf of the alliance.

 

What does the programme involve?

  • An innovative welcome launch event
  • One twilight ‘ Designing a classroom for learning’
  • Six full days of CPD
  • Support from a professional network of NQTs and mentors within Barnsley TSA

DAY TWO: Putting behaviour into context – Wednesday 8th November 2017

DAY THREE: Practical strategies for using iPads in T&L – Monday 15th January 2018

DAY FOUR: How do we make learning compelling? – Thursday 1st February 2018

DAY FIVE: Learning beyond school – Tuesday 6th March 2018

DAY SIX: CELEBRATION NOT SURVIVAL – ENTHUSIASM, ENERGY AND HOPE – Wednesday 27th June 2017

FULL COURSE PROGRAMME (6 Full days including twilight) – £300 per person

3 SESSIONS – £180 per person
