Initial Teacher Training – Why train with us ?

Our School Direct Programme forms a major aspect of this professional development role – through School Direct, we wish to recruit, nurture and develop new and exciting talent to the profession as part of our drive to promote outstanding teaching and learning in our schools.

As we have a diverse range of partnership schools and settings within South Yorkshire and beyond, we can offer you a wide and contrasting range of teaching and training opportunities.

Should you be successful in application, you will spend the vast majority of your Training Programme in one of our partner schools, supported by experienced and supportive staff, one of whom will be assigned as your host mentor. You will carry out a teaching placement in the autumn and summer terms in your host school, with a second contrasting placement in another of our partner schools.

You will take part in our bespoke CPD Twilight Programme delivered by outstanding practitioners and SLE’s from partner schools within the Alliance. All practitioners have strengths in ensuring the progress of vulnerable groups of learners and in leading the development of innovative and creative pedagogy. You will develop the professional knowledge, understanding and skills required to be an outstanding practitioner through participation in CPD such as:

  • The effective use of data to inform intervention and planning and target setting;
  • Assessment for learning, personalised and differentiated learning;
  • Specialist SEN and inclusion provision;
  • Literacy and numeracy development;
  • The use of mobile ICT technologies;
  • Key theories underpinning child development and attachment disorders;
  • Effective behaviour management and nurture approaches;
  • Learning to Learn: key theories underpinning effective learning and pedagogy;
  • Developing and shaping
