Forest Schools – The Serious Business of Outdoor Play

This one day, hands on course will explore how providing opportunities for play outside can support children’s problem solving and learning across the EYFS framework. We will explore how the environment, resources (including mud kitchens/loose parts) and sensitive interactions from adults can enhance learning. In addition we will look at how meaningful observations will enable practitioners to identify evidence of achievements and difficulties, characteristics of effective learning and next steps for individual children. The forest school ethos will run through the day exploring the benefits of child led play and the benefits of risky play.
