SLE Specialism: Initial teacher training (ITT), Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) development, Mathematics.

I have been fortunate enough to have being in leadership positions within and beyond my subject area for 12 years and, as such, have had the opportunities to affect change on a wider scale. From the strategic running of a department, to improving the teaching and learning of others within and beyond my school.

I have successfully developed teachers within the mathematics department and across school through effective CPD/INSET and coaching. I have used this experience to become an accredited Professional Development Lead for the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM).

In addition, I am an Associate Senior Leader with responsibility for the School Direct Initial Teacher Training programme. Within this role I have extended this provision to Barnsley TSA students and through this have had the privilege to work with some excellent new teachers and influence their practice.

The School Direct Programme has been recognised as good practice and I am excited about the next stage – extending a holistic approach to teaching and learning further afield and improving learning experiences for many more students across the region.
