FREE NQT Induction Tutor Training – Part 2

Barnsley TSA are running their second NQT Programme for both Primary & Secondary Schools commencing in 2016. Please see the following information with regards to NQT Induction Tutor Training.

Course Title: NQT Induction Tutor Training – Part 2

Date: Wednesday 9th November 2016

Time: 1.30pm – 4.00pm

Venue: The Pavillion, Darton College, Ballfield Lane, S75 5EF

Facilitator: Vicki Margrave – Teaching & Learning Consultant – Rotherham School Improvement Service

Cost: This course is free to Induction Tutors/ Coordinators who have NQT’s registered under Barnsley TSA (Worsbrough Common Primary School) for 2016/17. If you do not have NQT’s registered under our Appropriate Body then please get in touch for further information.

Cancellation policy applies: 5 working days notice is required otherwise charges may be made.

Course Content: This half day course is intended primarily for induction tutors/ mentors responsible for monitoring and providing feedback to NQTs on their progress and for planning interventions including the use of the formal C4C (Cause for Concern) process. It has been designed as a ‘follow-on’ session for any tutors who attended the initial appropriate body training sessions in July & September, but can be accessed as a ‘stand-alone’ session. The content of the course will be statutory requirements and best practice in the areas listed.
Learning Outcomes: The course will support participants in accessing and sharing best practice in NQT induction, specifically:
  • approaches to monitoring NQT progress and identifying needs
  • developing the use of lesson observation and feedback to support the development of NQTs
  • recording and reporting progress against the current Teacher Standards
  • planning and delivering interventions when NQT performance does not reach the required standard
  • use of formal Cause for Concern process
  • evidencing the above
